Japan. Japan. Sagot sa kahirapan.

"Pare, wala bang kita-kita? Malapit na alis ko."

"Di pwede yung iba, e. May lakad ka ba bukas nang umaga? Ride tayo."

"Sige ok yan."

One of the last instances I saw Des was when we swapped Vinos. He got the bigger one, and my sister got hold of the cute little Japanese release.

And I guess the last was the Retro interview at a TV morning show.

I remember, there was this time a friend asked me about my silly reverence over Japanese Retros. Well, I could only think of three good reasons then: First, I couldn't afford Italian. Second, I was a fan of Japanese porn. Third, the Retros are next to the skirted Japs in the Japanese hotness ranking.

Yeah, it took me a while contemplating why I get to ride the scoots and not the ladies in skimpy skirts instead.

And to add insult to the cheverlin, both Vinos Des and I ride aren't even from Japan.

Well, maybe the girls in skirts are not a long time coming anymore. It's alright; they don't have to be Japanese.

P.S. The photos were all taken in Marilaqueit's a beautiful and quiet place with long winding road that bridges Manila, Rizal, Laguna, and Quezon. Thus, the name.

7 rode the Retro Scooter!:

Way cool bikes! I love the Vino. Congrats. I plan on getting a scoot, probably a vespa, but since I saw this I think I've found my choice. Retro yet very modern :)
Happy safe riding guys. Regards.

Check out this flickr site for some eye candies. :)

Yes, they are sold here. It's kinda hard looking for some Japanese retros though.

But if you're seriously interested, I got a Vino Classic 50cc that I may just sell. :)

Hit me up at picasso_sellout@yahoo.com

Yeah I saw that Flicker account already even before this one and they're all so damn nice to look at. I'll be getting one come December. If you don't mind I'd be asking you again by then, well hopefully sooner. Got any pics of it? Or if convenience permits you can email me at jauhn@yahoo.com how much these things cost, er, Vino and the Joker/Shadow just to have an idea or make a budget for it. Thanks heaps :)

Dragoro,

I didn't know you're from QC as well. I have just checked your blog. Man oh man. Impressive custom bikes!

I took most of the photos in the instantdoodles flickr. My Retro scooter friends and I irregularly meet at Ortigas.

Anyway, about the Vino's price... it depends. If you plan to get a stock Taiwanese 90cc Vino (with a brand new body and reconditioned engine), you can get a unit for 40k at Jethol.

The Japanses Vino Classic 50cc is pretty hard to come around with. You can get one for 30 to 35k if you're lucky.

And the Joker, I have a friend who sold a 90cc unit. He tried to sell it to us at around 70k. That's still pretty cheap as this model is around 80k.

If you need assistance in finding a unit, just send me a message. :)

Does the Jethol Vino look anything like yours? Or your's is already custom? Thanks for the info man, really appreciate it. Will take note :)

Dragoro chief,

Mine's gone through a few changes. Most metal parts have a chrome finish.

But yeah, they're just the same.
